Infrared transmission at the 3.39 µm helium-neon laser wavelength in liquid-core quartz fibers

Measurement of optical transmission loss at the 3.39 μm line of an He-Ne laser in a tetrachloroethylene (C
2
Cl
4
)-filled fused-quartz fiber is reported. The loss is found to be 56 dB/km at this wavelength.
