Mode locking the Nd:Glass laser with BDN: Measurements of dye recovery times and laser pulse lengths

The recovery times for transient bleaching of the
Q
-switch dye bis(4-dimethylaminodithiobenzil)nickel (BDN) in the solvents dichlorethane and iodoethane have been determined. The lengths of pulses from an Nd:glass laser mode locked with BDN have also been measured by means of the two-photon fluorescence technique.
