User benefits of ISDN in Germany

The main user benefit of ISDN in the first echelon is cost saving. Based on the functionality and tariffs of ISDN in Germany, the typical saving is 30-50% in combined voice/data applications. For PABX and data transmission (computer networks) 10-80% can be saved. This however presupposes exiguous investment in terminals. A good solution is a cheap universal ISDN adaption card for a personal computer (PC). The PC thereby becomes the most versatile terminal in ISDN. ISDN as a universal standardized access method for all types of networks will lead to new applications. This will be the main benefit of ISDN in subsequent stages.<
