Cancerous discrimination in human serum by laser-induced Raman spectra method

Summary form only given. Induced Raman spectra and auto-fluorescence of human serum from cancerous and normal people is measured. It shows that these differences are from different the content of A-carotene in human serum of normal people and cancerous ones. This conclusion agrees well with the result obtained by mean of chromatogram. In addition, there is a broad fluorescence peak whose position varies in different spectrum. Red shift of fluorescence peak and decrease of fluorescence intensity are observed after sample radiated by laser. Based on more than one thousand sample cases, the three parameters and which consist of criterion for cancerous diagnoses are obtained after statistical analysis over experimental results. The application of the criterion in clinical diagnosis is researched, the mechanism of fluorescent emission and vibration modes of Raman spectra are analyzed. In the course of experiment, parameters |A/spl circ/ was chosen as the most important criterion, and the other two criterion served as assistants. If |A/spl circ/ < 1.0, then spectra diagnosis was marked as positive (+), otherwise it marked as negative (-). Of the 159 samples that were diagnosed as malignant tumor by pathology, 130 cases (81.76%) were detected by means of spectroscopy method. There are 48 cases (92.31%) among 52 benign cases in agreement with clinical diagnosis respectively.
