Current distribution and input impedance of a finite electromagnetic acoustic transducer

A rigorous solution for the current distribution in an electromagnetic acoustic transducer (EMAT), with a finite array of conductors, above a half conducting space is obtained using the method of moments. The input impedance of the EMAT is determined by calculating the complex inductance of the transducer's array of conductors. The case of the meander line EMAT is considered. The dependence of current distribution and impedance on the size of the EMAT and its distance from the conducting surface is studied.<
