The computation of electric fields for numerical integration of charged particle motion

Computation of ion trajectories requires accurate knowledge of electromagnetic fields. A field modeling process for computing ion trajectories which reconstructs a field using a summation of multipole potentials has been developed. The resulting closed-form expression offers increased speed and accuracy compared to interpolative schemes.<
