Simulation of capacitor discharge magnetisation

A technique for simulating the impulse magnetization of permanent magnets is presented. The method involves the simultaneous solution of the differential equation governing the capacitor-discharge/magnetizing fixture circuit and the nonlinear diffusion equation governing the transient electromagnetic field. It enables the distribution of magnetization throughout the magnet to be estimated, a prerequisite for predicting the subsequent magnetic field. The technique is applied to the study of factors which influence the magnetization of multipole fields on sintered NdFeB magnets.<
