Analysis of Wide-Speed-Range Sensorless IPMSM Drives with Integrated Flux-Linkage Estimator and I/f Starting Technique for E-Vehicle Application

The purpose of this study is to enhance the sensorless control operation of IPMSM drives across the entire speed domain. An integrated sensorless control approach implementing an optimized flux linkage estimator along with current-frequency (I-f) starting strategy has been presented on the basis of speed partitioning enhancement and effectively transitioning. At standstill-slow speed, I-f control is employed, to obtain a stable start-up and effective anti-jamming performance. A flux linkage estimator utilizing a PI compensator has been optimized for motion-sensorless closed loop systems at medium-to-high speeds. Using the PI compensator, position estimation inaccuracies induced by the integral initial value and DC offset are able to effectively mitigate regardless of speed iteration to enhance system stability. Simulation and experiment results demonstrate the superior performance of the proposed integrated motion-sensorless control technique in both a stable state and dynamic operations throughout the entire speed range.
