Examination of LLC based DC/DC Resonant Converter at Different Modes of Operation

This paper presents an examination of a half bridge resonant DC/DC converter based on LLC topology with GaN power transistors. Using GaN transistors allows increasing the switching frequency and thus reducing the size of the transformer as well as reducing the size of the output filter. LTspice simulation results are presented. The experimental setup uses evaluation boards GSP665HPMB-EVBIMS2 and GSP66508HB-EVBIMS2 from "GaN Systems". The switching frequency is up to 1MHz. Experimental results are presented.
