Perpendicular write process and head design

A potential advantage of perpendicular recording derives from the supposition that the perpendicular geometry, with the medium effectively in the write gap, permits higher anisotropy media for a given head saturation induction. We test these conjectures by looking in more detail at practical considerations limiting write field, using analytical approximations and finite element models, and report some experiments verifying the ability to write high coercive field media.
