Evaluating RED performance in wireless base-station under self-similar traffic

We simply review some buffer management mechanisms. In particular, we study the performance of the random early detection (RED) algorithm by simulation in a packet cellular wireless network. Using ns-NOAH simulation the throughput and queue size of the base-station with RED algorithm are studied in an environment under self-similar traffic. The results show that there are little performance difference between RED and drop tail base-station. We shed some light on these critical questions through the discussions in this paper.
