Iterative packet combining scheme for broadband packet transmission

An iterative packet combining technique based on the recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) codes, for automatic repeat request (ARQ) scheme is investigated for synchronous multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) under a frequency selective fading channel. The multiple turbo decoding principle of Divslaver and Pollara (1995) is used to combine the retransmission packets. The throughput and bit error rate performance of the standard ARQ, 1/2 rate turbo coded ARQ and the proposed ARQ schemes are compared via simulation. The proposed scheme outperforms the other two schemes, especially at low SNR.
