Magnetically Modulated Hybridization of Epsilon-Near-Zero Mode in Multilayered Heterostructure

Manipulation of optical Tamm states (OTSs) near an interface between polar thin film and one-dimensional (1D) photonic crystals (PhCs) provides a framework for confinement of surface phonon polaritons (SPhPs). Here, we offer a lithography-free avenue to create structure for the realization of strong coupling between Tamm phonon polaritons (TPhPs) and epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) modes. Infrared reflectivity also reveals that the optical response of the hetero-stack can be combined with dual discrete absorption events, each associated with an individual ENZ mode. In the presence of external magnetic field, an alteration of the hybridization will be met, which enable an efficient way for the control of light-matter interaction at nanoscale in the mid-infrared (MIR) range.
