TMN information modelling and retrieval by an advanced human-machine interface

The paper presents the research activities and results in the area of intelligent human machine interface (HMI) for the telecommunication management network (TMN) carried out jointly by CSELT and SIP. The requirements for effective TMN HMI are outlined. The principles used to retrieve information for the operating systems (OSs) are described. The authors also describe a presentation tailored to user's characteristics and role, based on user-friendly graphic dialogue, following the direct manipulation approach.<
