Coordinated control of PSS and variable impedance devices by using AVURPSO to enhance the stability in power system

A simultaneous coordinated design of PSS and variable impedance devices such as TCSC and SVC for damping the power system oscillations and enhancing the stability in multi-machine power systems is presented in this paper. To achieve the best control results, adaptive velocity update relaxation particle swarm optimization (AVURPSO) algorithm is used to optimize the parameters of PSS and SVC and TCSC simultaneous controllers. The effectiveness of the proposed simultaneous controllers is demonstrated on four-machine power system.
