A stepwise framework towards ICT integration in education: A South African perspective

It is evident that Information Communication Technology (ICT) integration in the classroom is vitally important to enhancing teaching and learning. However anecdotal evidence alludes that ICT integration in South African schools has been uncoordinated and disparate. Clearly there are several challenges that impact the administration of ICTs at school level. In part addressing the strategic and operational challenges involves understanding the current landscape of ICT integration in schools. There is limited information on the practical enforcement of ICTs in the classroom. The aim of this article is to derive a stepwise guiding framework that will lead to the designing of a more coordinated effort towards ensuring the educators use ICTs effectively in their teaching and learning.
