Self-curing decoupling technique for two Inverted-F antennas working in adjacent bands

The self-curing decoupling concept is applied to two coupled Inverted-F antennas (IFA) working in adjacent bands. The interference in the guard band of two wireless systems working in two adjacent frequency bands can be easily reduced by a capacitive load on the shorting arm of each IFA antenna. This decoupling technique is simple to implement in practical applications and occupies almost no extra space. A network analysis is presented to justify the decoupling concept and to provide a design guideline. To verify the effectiveness of the technique, a typical scenario of the coexistence of two IFA antennas working for LTE band 40 (2300 MHz-2400 MHz) and IEEE 802.11b (2400 MHz-2483.5 MHz) is studied. The isolation improvement from 10 dB to 20 dB in the adjacent bands by using this self-curing decoupling technique can be achieved.
