Dual band RF energy harvester for wearable electronic technology

In this paper, a dual band wearable rectenna is fabricated and tested to power the wearable sensors or electronics at 2.45 GHz and 5.8 GHz. The wearable rectenna substrate is designed with cotton jeans which is a textile material. RF-to-dc conversation system contains the diode rectifier and a high efficiency DC-DC step-up converter with maximum power point control (MPPT). The measured return loss bandwidth of the textile dual band antenna is 40% at 2.45 GHz and 51% at 5.8 GHz. The rectenna has maximum efficiency of 60% at -3dBm (5.8GHz) and 0dBm (2.45GHz).
