Design of a high sensitivity W-band radiometer front-end

A high sensitivity w-band radiometer front-end is designed in this paper for security screening and material composition recognition. The design of waveguide-micro-strip line transition structure, impedance matching network of MMIC chips and micro-strip line detector is accomplished by high frequency electromagnetic simulation. The voltage sensitivity of the detector in W-band radiometer front-end is more than 900v/wand its noise figure is less than 3.5dB with more than 35dB gain between 75GHz and 110GHz. These performances makes its sensitivity lower than 2K@25°C.
