Optimal load shedding management for ensuring power system stability

Power system stability is necessary for the secure system operation. Transient instability is regarded as most challenging stability problem for most of the systems; therefore it is of much concern for power system stability. In this paper the power system stability problem has been addressed by reducing transients using a load shedding scheme. A relay coordination scheme is proposed based on under-voltage/over-current to shed the less priority load in an interconnected transmission network. The proposed analysis is performed on IEEE standard system and Utility network in ETAP environment. The result shows that proposed approach has a potential to improve power system stability.
