A toolchain for the 3D-visualization of bioartificial vascular grafts based on ultrasound images

This paper presents and evaluates a tool chain for the 3D-visualization of bio-artificial vascular grafts based on non-invasive ultrasound imaging technology. The goal of this imaging method is dedicated to providing detailed information regarding the geometric structure, wall strength and continuity of the vascular graft during it's cultivation in a unique tissue engineering bioreactor. The tool-chain produces a 3D-generated object in StL-file format, which can be used for further analysis. An exemplary case and the 3D-visualization of a formalin persevered male bovine vein are presented.
