Analysing creative models based on unplugged evolutionary algorithms

This paper analyzes the influence of specific genetic operations on the results obtained when applying the Unplugged Evolutionary Algorithm in an artistic creation process. Throughout the methodology developed in previous works, in which the Evolutionary Algorithm is executed by a team of artists, in this paper the results were obtained by applying several changes to the algorithm, such as adding elitism or increasing the number of participating artists. Together with the results, we also describe the software tool employed to manage and organize the collective work. We analyze the influence of these changes on the results by comparing them with those obtained in previous experiments. Moreover, the project was shown to the public, taking data to check if the message of the artwork is transmitted to the viewer. The objective is to improve the comprehension of creative processes developed by artists when evolutionary algorithms are involved. The paper describes and analyzes the experiment performed by the team of participating artists and the collective work generated. It also analyzes the influence of new operators compared with the results of previous experiments and the result of the viewer's perception.
