Lightweight cryptographic algorithm for low power node with Bluetooth connectivity

With the improvement in wireless technology, sensory devices are integrated with wireless devices forming wireless sensor network (WSN). Security is one of the major bottleneck for WSN, as they operate in unlicensed bandwidth. Implementing conventional security algorithm degrades the network performance due to high computational complexity and inherent delay is incurred for execution of the algorithms. In this context, a hybrid algorithm “PRESENT-GRP” is proposed for facilitating light weight encryption in WSN. As sensor nodes are battery operated, optimization of power plays a major role in prolonging the networks lifetime. In this work, a lightweight security algorithm for low power devices which consumes relatively less memory is designed and the results are analyzed. Thereby the algorithm suggested, could facilitate resource constrained devices to share the sensed data in a secure manner. Hence, by the analysis in this work it determines that the proposed algorithm is robust against linear and differential attacks.
