Bandwidth enhancement and modification of single band patch antenna into double band

This research paper contains process of single band `not up-to the mark' patch modification into double band antenna using metamaterial. The center of interest in this research paper is to modify an RMPA to operate at two different frequencies instead at applied resonant frequency alone. This double band feeler can operate at distinguished frequencies of 2.009 & 2.498 GHz. whereas the applied resonant frequency is 2.92 GHz. The return losses for both band frequencies are -31.4 and -19.2 dB respectively and corresponding bandwidths are 35 and 99 MHz compared with return loss -10.11dB and bandwidth 9.4MHZ achieved by RMPA alone. The metamaterial structure is a combination of rectangular split ring shapes to form a design which modifies the RMPA results to required extent i.e. into double band with enhanced bandwidth. All the designing and simulation work was done in the CST-MWS.
