A low profile directional antenna with dual polarization for channel capacity enhancement

This paper presents a directional antenna with a low profile design consists of loop and printed dipole arrays, paired with reflector and director. These arrays are mounted on a ground plane while being fed independently to produce vertical and horizontal polarization. Intended for an indoor base station environment, this antenna can produces up to four orthogonal directional patterns operating at 3.5 GHz with downward elevation angle of below 30° and half power beamwidth (HPBW) less than 80°.
