Identification of an industrial gas turbine based on Rowen's model and using Multi-Objective Optimization method

This paper presents a novel identification method for a heavy duty industrial gas turbine (HDGT). It has 162.1 MW nominal power and 50 Hz nominal frequency. The acquired data from the industrial gas turbine include turbine output power and turbine exhaust output temperature. A simplified and most commonly used model of the heavy-duty gas turbines is used for gray box identification of the GT. This model represents the mechanical behavior of the gas turbine. The main aim of this study is to adjust the parameters of the model precisely, in order to have a more accurate estimation of output power value of the turbine and the exhaust output temperature value. To achieve this, the multi-objective differential evolution optimization algorithm is used. By choosing the appropriate parameters in each condition, this model will give a favorable estimation of the gas turbine in loading condition.
