Skeletal Tissue Electromechanics & Electrical Stimulation of Growth & Remodeling

The role of electromechanical transduction in the structure-function-property relationships of bone and other connective tissues in vivo is considered, and the piezoelectric behavior of bone is discussed. The techniques used to stimulate connective tissues are examined, namely, implanted electrodes, inductive coupling, and capacitive coupling.
