IEEE Early Access articles take advantage of the rapid publishing capabilities offered by digital media. Early Access articles represent new content that is made available online in advance of the final electronic or print versions.
Early Access articles include documents resulting from IEEE’s Rapid Post or Preprint processes. Rapid Post articles have undergone peer review and editorial processing, with the exception of final pagination. Preprint articles have been peer-reviewed but have not undergone editorial processing. Both types of Early Access articles are fully citable from the moment they appear in IEEE Xplore. IEEE makes Early Access articles available from time to time for most journals.
When Early Access articles are available, the publication page displays this indicator:
