Searching Within a Publication

You can use simple keyword searching or do a citation search to locate specific articles or papers in the publication you are browsing.

Keyword Search

  1. On the Home page, click Conference Publications or Journals & Magazines under . On other pages, hover over in the navigation bar. Then click Conference Publications or Journals & Magazines. IEEE Xplore displays the By Title tab with a list of titles starting with the letter A or beginning with a number.

  2. Access the publication you want by entering a keyword or a unique phrase in the Search by Keywords box, by browsing alphabetically, or by clicking the By Topic tab to browse by topic.

  3. Click the volume or issue that interests you.

  4. To find specific articles or papers of interest, enter one or more keywords or unique phrases in the Search This Conference box or Search This Journal box.

 

Note: The box title will change depending on which content type you are searching.

IEEE Xplore looks for matches in any of the following fields: document title, authors, publication title, abstract, and index terms. IEEE Xplore then displays a list of results matching your keyword(s) or phrases.

From the results list, click to view the abstract on the page. Click the document title or to view the abstract page with complete bibliographic citation and abstract information. The subscription identifier icon indicates articles where you have access to full text.

Citation Search

  1. On the Home page, click Journals & Magazines under . On other pages, hover over in the navigation bar. Then click Journals & Magazines. IEEE Xplore displays the By Title tab with a list of titles starting with the letter A or beginning with a number.

  2. Access the publication you want by entering a keyword or a unique phrase in the Search by Keywords box, by browsing alphabetically, or by clicking the By Topic tab to browse by topic.

  3. Click a journal or magazine title to see its home page.

  4. To find a known citation, enter the volume, issue, and start page numbers in the Quick Search box. The volume number is required, as is either the issue or start page number.
