IEEE Xplore normally displays 10 search results on a page, sorted by relevance; each result shows the document title and citation. You can change these specifications to present your results in a different format. To begin, click and then select the desired display options.
The Display Options for Search Results are:
Results Layout sets how much information is returned about each result matching the search query. Title Only specifies the document title only. Title & Citation consists of document title, author, publication title, and bibliographic information. Title, Citation & Abstract also includes the first 30 to 40 words of the abstract.
Results per Page sets the number of results displayed per page. Choices are 10, 25, 50, and 100.
Sort By sets the criteria for ordering the results. Choices are Relevance (sorted by how well the result matches the search query as determined by IEEE Xplore), Newest First (in chronological order by publication year, beginning with most recent), Oldest First (in chronological order by publication year, beginning with oldest), Title A-Z (in alphabetical order by publication title, ignoring leading articles such as "a", "the", and "an"), and Title Z-A (in reverse alphabetical order by publication title, ignoring leading articles).
You can override the Results per Page and Sort By preferences on the search results page.
Note: In Search Options, IEEE Members can also set a preference to search Full Text & Metadata.
