Summary:This paper reports on the current status of the IAVAS I3D MPEG-4 player originally developed at the Institute of Media Technology (IMT) at Technische Universitdt Ilmenau, Germany, and now jointly advanced by IMT and Fraunhofer IDMT, also located in Ilmenau, Germany. The features of the player that are of most interest to the field of consumer electronics, implemented in the audio and visual rendering engines, are described in detail. Also, one section is dedicated to problems and solutions related to the authoring processes of object-based interactive audiovisual content.
