Summary:We propose a fully distributed MAC-layer priority scheduling mechanism, called LPT-DPS (Lower-Priority-Triggered Distributed Priority Scheduling), for wireless ad hoc networks. LPT-DPS can allocate channel bandwidth to flows with different priorities in such a way that the higher the priority level of the flow, the higher the bandwidth that the flow acquires. Using extensive simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed LPT-DPS in delivering the high priority traffic even when the low priority traffic is overwhelming.
