Abstract
We successfully demonstrated the management capability of VLAN-based wide area Ethernet network, which includes a resilient packet ring (RPR) by using an Ethernet OAM frame for the first time. Widely-deployed configurations in actual use, which include point-to-multipoint Ethernet virtual connection (EVC) with VLAN and point-to-point EVC such as the numbers of VLAN(s) are forwarded via the same data link after aggregating by L2 switch, are successfully evaluated with Ethernet loopback which was implemented in advance of standardization. A demonstration of fault isolation that determines the segment of which network performance deteriorated is also successfully carried out.
