IEEE Std 802.11™-2012 Gets First Major Revision in Five Years

In April, IEEE released the newest revision to the 802.11 standard. IEEE 802.11-2012 is the first major revision to this standard in five years.

IEEE 802.11-2012 IEEE Standard for Information technology--Telecommunications and information exchange between systems Local and metropolitan area networks--Specific requirements Part 11: Wireless LAN Medium Access Control (MAC) and Physical Layer (PHY) Specifications, rolls up all the additions to the standard to produce a single document representing the state of the art in WiFi, which will help to ensure a high degree of interoperability between all WiFi devices.
